14. (2 marks) A composite bar made of bronze and aluminum is subjected to a thermal history. The aluminum end of the bar is fixed to a rigid wall and the bronze end is free but in proximity to another rigid wall, as shown in the sketch below. The temperature of the composite bar is raised by 100 C. Determine (i) the forces developed in the bars, if any, and (ii) change in length of each bar after the rise in temperature. The area of cross-section of the bronze bar is 1,300 mm and Youngs modulus E,-105 GPa, while the area of cross-section of the aluminum bar is 1,600 mm, and Edi 70 GPa.
