1a) Shown below is a roof framing plan for a wood framed factory. The roof dead load is 12 psf and roof live load is 20 psf. Draw FBDs for a typical 4x14 Beam (B1) and a typical 6¾x33 Glulam Girder (G1), show the loading conditions and determine end reactions for each. Ignore the self-weight of the Beam and Girder.
1b) Based on the appropriate reactions previously calculated,
determine the axial compressive stress in the 12x12 column ‘C1’ (A
= 132.3 in2).
