Question: 29 a doubleacting piston pump is pumping vater from a...

Question details

2.9 A double-acting piston pump is pumping vater from a point 3 m lower than the pump and delivers to a point 66 mabove the pump. The diameter of the suction pipe is 150 mm , the length 6 m and the diameter of the delivery pipe is 100 m and the length of it 80 m. The piston diameter is 165 mm and the stroke length is 240 mm. The pump rotates at 42 /min. Large air vessels have been installed in the piping - on the suction side 2 m from the pump and on the delivery side 5m from the pump. Take the friction coefficient as more or less constant and equal to 0,008. (a) Make a sketch of the layout showing the dimensions, (b) sketch the pressure head-dis- placement diagram (c) calculate the pressure head difference between the suction and discharge side of the piston at the beginning of the stroke. Ignore velocity head. [73,823 m
