500 words or less
dot point of written in short answer format
Imagine that you are a psychologist working in private practice with adults. A 50-year old man called Sammy comes to see you for problems around depression. He has recently lost his job and has frequent thoughts about being incompetent and “a failure”. He is not sleeping well, and has gained weight. He has stopped seeing friends or playing sport, and he spends most of his day in front of the television. The house is a mess and he is very unmotivated to apply for jobs. Please describe this cycle from a cognitive-behavioural model perspective. What might be maintaining the cycle and what steps might you take in therapy in order to break the cycle?
