A tutor recorded how long it took her to get home from university each day for 5 days.  Her times (to the nearest minute) and comments were: 27 (nice day for a walk), 21 (picked up a lift with my mate), 39 (waited a long time for the bus today), 19 (biked past the traffic) and 31.

If we put these times in order, from lowest to highest, we get , (just put in the numbers, not the units).  Looking at the ordered observations, we can see that the median time it took her to get home from university over these five days was  minutes.

13.I recorded how long I waited for the bus on five separate days and I got the following wait times (recorded to the nearest minute): 15, 12, 17, 11, 14.

If I put these observations in order, lowest to highest, I get  (just put in the numbers, with no units).   By putting them in order, I can see that the median of my observations is  minutes.
