A 100-mm by 150-mm rectangular plate QABC is deformed into the shape shown by the dashed lines in Fig. P2.9. All dimensions shown in the figure are in millimeters. Determine at point Q (a) the strain components εx, εy, γxy, and (b) the principal strains and the direction of the principal axes. My professor insisted that the solution to this problem is wrong as it is. I cannot find the error myself. I suspect the error is in finding Ey, but I am not completely sure. Could someone please help me?
