A 40mm diameter solid steel shaft is to be surrounded in a bronze sleeve having an outside diameter of 60 mm. Before being shrunk fitted onto the shaft, the sleeve has an inside diameter 0.08 mm smaller than the diameter of the shaft. If the unit is restrained so that the axial strain is zero, determine i) the radial interference pressure between the shaft and sleeve, ii) the maximum stress in the sleeve and iii) the change in the outside diameter of the sleeve. 4.
