That is the power plant rids itself of waste heat by evaporating water. This power plant is adjacent to a river with a mean temperature of 15 °C and a mean flow rate of 150 m3/s. What flow rate of condenser cooling water will be required to keep up with evaporative loses? Start by drawing a detailed process flow diagram showing the power plant, waste heat, electricity, the evaporative condenser and the adjacent river (contd from above) Calculate the total amount of waste heat this power plant produces. Then calculate the amount of water required to compensate for the water lost due to evaporative losses in the condenser. The heat of vaporization of water at 15 °C is 2465 kJ/kg.
