A drum supports a weight W. The drum is braked by a lever arm. A 750 newton force is applied at 2 meters from pivot A which is to the left of the newton force. The drum support (at point B) is located 1 meter to the right of the applied force. Determine the normal force at point B acting on the outer circumference of the drum. The friction value is u=0.30. The inner circumference of the drum is 0.4m and the outer circumference is 0.80m. At the center of the inner circcumference there is a pivot C.
I know the answer to this exercise is 500N, but could you show me the steps to determining the normal force asked for in the paragraph above?
