Question details
A high rise building of 100 m height has a rectangular footprint having 20 m on widest side. On a hot summer day, warm wind blows parallel to the wide side of the building at 30 mph. Air temperature is 29°C. The effective thermal conductivity of the composite outer walls of the building is 51.2 W/mK, while the total thickness of these walls is 20 cm. Determine the heat transfer rate that needs to be removed from by the air conditioning system in order to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature of 22 °C.
