across two channel sections.
Design the minimum plate thickness (size by the nearest 1/8"
thickness) assuming A36
steel and the bolted connection details shown below. The holes are
punched at 9/16"
diameter. The plate has an 8" depth and is subject to a 10k dead
load and 40k live load.
Consider gross section yielding, net section rupture, and block
shear rupture limit states.
Use LRFD.
