A uniform flow with velocity U, approaches a horizontal surface with a step. At the end of the surface, the velocity profile has a linear and a uniform component, as shown below. A streamline is shown at the top of the diagram. The velocity of the flow at any point along this streamline is tangent to the streamline, i.e. there is no flow crossing this streamline U% U. step Analytically, the velocity profile at the end of the flat surface can be expressed by: Assume incompressible flow with density p and width W into the page. Also, assume the pressure at every point in the flow is equal to atmospheric pressure (a) Using the system indicated by the dashed lines above, apply conservation principle(s) to determine H. Express your answer in terms of p, U, h, 5 and W(you may not have to use all of them) (b) Using the same system, apply conservation principle(s) to determine the total drag force on the surface with the step.
