Question details

Wilson & Kelling argue that broken windows left unrepaired sends a signal to potential offenders that the community doesn’t care and ultimately leads to crime. Do you believe that neighborhoods that aren’t well maintained (abandoned houses, heavily littered, prevalence of panhandlers, prostitutes and drunks, etc.) send a signal to would be criminals?  Why or why not? In your opinion, does allowing a neighborhood deteriorate inevitably lead to more serious crime?  Why or why not?
