As shown in the figure below (not drawn to scale), a pump is used to transport water from a well to an elevated storage tank. Pipe 1 is located on the intake side of the pump. Pipe 2, on the discharge side of the pump, has a total length of 500 ft and includes a swing check valve with a loss coefficient of 2.0. Both pipes are 9-in diameter PVC pipeline (f = 0.018). For a discharge rate of 6.5 cfs, compute the pressure (in psi) at the inlet and outlet of the pump. Use a loss coefficient of 0.80 for the projecting entrance, an exit loss coefficient of 1.0, and a loss coefficient of 0.60 for each of the 90 degree bends.
