For Fun. Five pirates numbered 1,2,3,4,5 have 100 gold coins to divide among themselves. They have decided upon the following system to divide the coins: The first pirate proposes a distribution of the coins among the pirates. If at least 50% of the pirates (including the proposer) vote in favour of this distribution, the proposal succeeds and this is how the gold is divided. Otherwise, the proposer is thrown overboard and the second pirate proposes a distribution of coins among the remaining pirates with the same rule for acceptance, and so on. The game continues until some pirates proposal is accepted. Assume that the pirates are perfectly rational, but that their preferences are as follows: 1. The first priority of each pirate is to maximize the gold they get (pirates are greedy) 2. The second priority of each pirate is to throw as many other pirates overboard as possible (pirates are murderous 3. The pirates have no concern for their own well being (pirates are heedless) Given these assumptions, how will the gold be divided?
