A window separates the comfortable inside air (66 °F) from the brutally cold outside air (-24 °F, the coldest temperature ever recorded* in Knoxville, TN). a) Consider a single pane window. The dimensions of the ¼-inch-thick glass window pane are about 0.9 m by 1.65 m. If the convection coefficient outside is 100 W/m2*K and inside is 25 Wm K, determine the surface temperatures of the glass and the heat transfer rate through the glass. b) Consider a double pane window, as a replacement for the single pane window in part a), with two sheets of 3/16-inch-thick glass separated by a %-inch argon-filled space. Using the convection coefficient values from part a), determine the four (4) surface temperatures of the glass and the heat transfer rate through the argon. (Use kg 1.4 W/m*K for glass and k0.017 W/m*K for argon.)
