Just question 21. A 6-foot long beam is made by gluing three 1 X 6 inch boards (actual dimensions are 1.0 in X 6.0 in) together as shown. The beam is cantilevered. A concentrated load of 1500 lb is placed at the unsupported end of the beam. Determine the maximum normal stress in the beam and the maximum shear stress in each of the glue joints. Glue Joints 2. For the beam section and loading condition described above, derive a relationship for the ratio of the maximum magnitude of the shear stress in the beam to the maximum magnitude of the axial stress in the beam (T max) as a function of mar/ beam length, L. Use Excel or MATLAB and plot this ratio of stresses for a beam length of 0.1 SLS 6.0 feet.
