Question: my answers a i and v b iii and iv...

Question details

5-1 Do this problem by hand For each part below, select (list) the measurements that are necessary to determine the desired property. Use as few measurements as possible to get full credit. Justify your answers briefly. a) You want to know the maximum pressure inside a sealed propane tank exposed to high temperatures during transportation. Assume the entire tank is filled with propane in both liquid and vapor phase at all times. You should measure i. The temperature inside the tank ii. The total internal volume of the tank iii. The volume of liquid inside the tank iv. The total mass of propane The specific volume of the tank contents (the ratio of ii to iv) b) For the same propane tank as in (a), you want to know the specific volume of the liquid in the tank. You should measure i. The temperature inside the tank ii. The total internal volume of the tank iii. The volume of liquid inside the tank iv. The total mass of propane The specific volume of the tank contents (the ratio of ii to iv) c) For the same propane tank as in (a), you want to know the specific volume of the tank contents. You should measure i. ii. iii. iv. The temperature inside the tank The total internal volume of the tank The volume of liquid inside the tank The total mass of propane d) A tank is completely full of air and you would like to know the density of the air. Yoiu should measure i. ii. iii. The temperature inside the tank The pressure inside the tank The mass of air in the tank e) A tank is completely full of air and you would like to know the internal volume of the tank. You should measure i. The temperature inside the tank ii. The pressure inside the tank iii. The mass of air in the tanlk f) What should you measure so that you can determine the specific volume of liquid water in a vessel that contains an equilibrium mixture of water, ice, and water vapor? Since we didnt provide multiple choices here, just answer in your own words.

My Answers:

a. i and v

b. iii and iv

c. ii and iv

d. i and ii

e. i, ii and iii

I saw on another Zookal.

a. i

b. v

c. ii

d. iii

I don't know which answers are correct. Like idk how for a. only temperature needs to be known??????

Note we only know that the tank is completely full. We don't know the actual numerical volume (Like if the volume is 300L or 1500L). This is how I interpreted the question. So like for c. wouldn't you want to know ii and iv????

Can someone please clearly answer these questions and explain how you get to your answer?? Am i right or wrong?

Please help.
