2. Water at 20C flows in a new concrete pipe at a velocity of 2.5 m/s. The pipe is 800m long and has a diameter of 150mm. a. Determine the head loss using Darcy-Weisbach equation (and Moody Diagram), if there is a valve (minor loss coefficient of 5) located in the middle of the pipeline. b. Compute the length of an equivalent pipe that would create the same amount of head loss as whats created by the valve in part a. If the head loss is expected to go up by 20% in next ten years, what would be the expected head loss 20 years from now. (Assume that the pipe roughnesse changes linearly over the first 20 years)? Use Moody diagram. c. 3. If the pipe described in problem 2.a. is laid on a horizontal ground connecting two reservoirs, draw the hydraulic grade line and the energy grade line for this pipeline system. Include all the minor losses in your calculations and show their effect on the grade lines. Elevation of water surface in the downstream reservoir is 60 m. (A scale drawing is expected with all the important quantities labeled!)
