Question: over 10 million people have gained insurance as a result...

Question details

Over 10 million people have gained insurance as a result of the Affordable Care Act. However, 33 million Americans (10.4% of the US population) remain uninsured. Despite a significant drop in the rate of uninsurance among young adults (from 35% in 2010 to 21% in 2015), close to 8 million of those remaining uninsured are indeed young adults ages 19 to 34. Unlike many other groups, young adults aren’t excluded from the law’s benefits. What then explains the ongoing high numbers of uninsured in this group and what suggestions do you have for how to address this persistent coverage gap?
