An electronic device, in the form of a disk 3 cm in diameter, dissipates 200 W when mounted flush on a large aluminum alloy (2024) block whose temperature is maintained at 27 °C and k177 W/m-K. The mounting arrangement is such that a contact resistance of R,c-6×10-5 m2-K/W exists at the interface between the device and the block. Assume all the power generated by the device only be transferred by conduction to the block (convection through top surface was found much smaller than conduction to the block. So, it is negligible). (a) Sketch the equivalent thermal circuit. Label appropriate resistances, temperatures and heat transfer rate. (4%) (b) Calculate the temperature the device will reach. (4%)
