[1 An aircraft tie rod is made of 7075-T6 Al (Fu-79 ksi, Fu 47.0 ksi, E-10.3 Msi) plate with w-0.3, Wy-0.5 as shown. If the section is loaded with a tensile force of P 10 kips at its centroid, determine (a) the normal stress, (b) the margin of safety, and (c) whether or not the section will fail. 2 If the tie rod of 1 is instead loaded with forces of P-5 kips & Py-5 kips at its centroid, determine (a) the maximum shear stress, (b) the margin of safety. and (c) whether or not the section will fail.
