The CO, initially occupies a volume of 0.005 m3 and has a specific internal energy of 300 kJ/kg. The atmosphere exerts a pressure of 100 kPa on the top of the piston. Heat transfer occurs slowly to the CO2 from the surroundings and the volume of the CO2 increases to 0.01 m and specific internal energy increases to 600 kJ/kg. Friction between the piston and the cylinder wall can be neglected. The piston is at equilibrium (NO unbalanced force) all the time during the movement. The local acceleration of gravity is 9.81 m/s2. For the CO2 determine (a) The final pressure at the volume of 0.01 m, in kPa (b) The heat transfer Q occurred during the expansion process, in kJ.
