Question: problem v in a population of distylous primrose primula plants...

Question details

Problem V: In a population of distylous primrose (Primula) plants (see notes from 1-15 lecture), we find equal frequencies of pin and thrum morphs. Anther and style position are controlled by the S gene. Morphs can only mate with plants of the other morph. Pins are homozygous recessive (ss). Thrums are heterozygous (Ss). No SS genotypes exist because thrums never mate with each other. Calculate the fixation index for this population based on genotypes for the S gene. Provide a one sentence explanation for your results. Why might the value of F you obtained be expected?
