b. The outer layer of Al strip was scratch off before placing the Al strip in the Hg beaker. What is the purpose of the special preparation to the Al strip before exposure to Hg?

c. What if any changes did you observe when the Al was immersed in the Hg? And What is the purpose of dipping the Al in the Hg(l) prior to suspending the metal strip in the air?

d. Provide a balanced chemical reaction describing the behavior for the reaction including parenthetical information indicating the physical nature of the reactants and products.

e. What reactant is the Hg reacting with? Is the chemical reaction endo- or exo-thermic?

f. Is the behavior of the Al in this demonstration consistent with the behavior of Al when it reacts with Bromine and Antimony? (Explain)
