Both designs have five members, where one design has a diagonal member between nodes (1) and (3), while the second design has a diagonal memberR between nodes (2) and (4). All members are made of 7075-T6 aluminum with solid circular cross sections 20 20 20 500b 500b a.) Calculate the reaction forces for both designs. b.) Calculate the internal member forces for each design. c.) Simple design: The simplest design based upon engineering and manufacturing is to use the same cross-section for all five members. Calculate the weight of the left design, assuming that the largest cross-section radius of the left design is used for all five members. Calculate the weight of the right design, assuming that the largest cross-section radius of the right design is used for all five members. Finally, calculate the margin of safety (MS) for all of the members of each deign based upon this larger radius. If a member is in compression, make sure that the cross-section radius is large enough to ensure that it will not buckle, using the following Euler buckling formula for a pinned-pinned beam, d.) Minimum weight design: Calculate the minimum required radius for each of the five members of both designs and then calculate the weight of each truss design.
