Say you had a list of items in column A, the pre-tax cost of each item in the corresponding row of column B, and the current tax rate in cell C1. You want to list the sales tax for each item in column D. What is the best way to do this?

Enter the formula "=C1*B1" in cell D1, then double click on the column D header to expand the list.

Calculate the tax rate for each item on your calculator and type the results into the correcponding cells in column D.

Enter the formula "=C$1*B1" in cell D1, then click on the bottom right-hand corner of the cell and drag down column D to the bottom of your list.

Enter the formula "=C$1*B1" in cell D1, then copy and paste it into cell D2, D3, all the way to the bottom of your list.
