Question: the inside diameter of a fireplace chimney is 200 mm...

Question details

The inside diameter of a fireplace chimney is 200 mm and made of very thin sheet steel (negligible conduction resistance) covered with 8-mm thick insulation mate- rial (k 0.05 W/m K). The outer surface of the chimney is exposed to air at 10 °C with a convective heat transfer coefficient of 7 W/m2 °C. The convéctive heat transfer coefficient on the inside surface is 20 W/m2 °C. To avoid condensation, the inner surface temperature should be more than 50 °C. What should be the minimum tem perature of the gases in the chimney? 2-5 216 mm 200 mm Insulation Air at -10 °C 7,-50 °C Hot gases
