The purpose of this assignment is to come up with a parasite related research question that is not only interesting to you but will provide enough information and depth to write your 11 page research paper. The purpose is also to make sure youre on the right track from the get-go. The best place to start is with recent articles from secondary and tertiary sources that may provide ideas as to what is hot in the news regarding parasites. There are numerous parasites of medical importance, veterinary importance, agricultural importance, economic importance, and ecological importance. Parasites are everywhere, and it should not be difficult generate a question where you can compare and contrast 3 parasite species of interest. The question should be meaningful as it would be superficial to compare/ contrast 3 different parasites by indicating they look different or have different life cycles, which would be book-reportish. Include the word mechanism in your question After you have come up with a question you need to generate a null hypothesis (Ho) and alternative hypothesis (Ha). The null hypothesis refers to the default position that there is no relationship between two measured phenomena (variables) or in our case mechanisms. The alternative hypothesis is what every scientist hopes for because differences are interesting and make for easy writing. If you cant easily generate both hypotheses you probably need to rewrite your question.
