Question: the supreme court has now ruled that civil marriage must...

Question details

The Supreme Court has now ruled that civil marriage must apply equally to same gender couples as to mixed gender couples. In the wake of that ruling we have seen some push back. There have been a number of Court Clerks, Magistrates and other "public servants" who have refused to issue marriage licenses or to marry same gender couples. Do you think that officers of the court should be permitted to refuse to perform parts of their job based on religious objections? What if they say they will not issue marriage licenses to people who have been married before or who are Muslim? How about private businesses? Should a public restaurant be allowed to refuse service to homosexual people? Refuse to make a wedding cake for homosexual people?
