Question: thinwall tube is made of sheet by the bending and...

Question details

Thin-wall tube is made of sheet by the bending and welding process. The rolling direction of the strip is identical with the axial direction of the pipe. The tube has a diameter of 5'' and a wall thickness of 0.025''. Given R0 = 2.5, R90 = 0.8, R45 = 1.8 and the leakage limit in the 350MPa rolling direction. Eliminate the elastic deformations.

a) If both ends are closed in the tube and charged under internal pressure, what pressure will leakage occur?

b) The length of the pipe will be reduced, increased or will remain stable;

c) If the tube is stretched, the volume in the tube will decrease, increase or remain constant;

d) Determine the tension in the walls of the pipe if it is filled and filled with water and then tensed until the material leaks.
