Question details

MATH 270 Section 1.2: Question 29: The augmented matrix for the system. The first row was multiplied by Cl -3 times the first row was added to the second row The third row was multiplied by 9 1 0 Ea-lb 9 times the second row was added to the first row The system has exactly one solution: x-aand y-abThis is the solution to the augmented matrix with the two variables a and b. I am having trouble understanding why and how they got -3/2a + b in the second step. Why did they add a to the b in the bottom row? Should a have just stayed up top? If you could please provide detailed solution with the algebra they did for this question/solution, that would be very helpful.
