We will spend the next two weeks, designing and building a regulated 9.1V, 40mA power supply. Our overall system will feature the functional blocks below 12% Filter Capacitor Zener Diode Regulator 9V 40mA 120V Transformer Rectifier Figure 1. Zener Voltage Regulated Power Supply This week, our focus will be on design and simulation of our full system. In week 2, we will focus on circuit construction and test. Design Guidelines Full Bridge Rectifier Construct a full bridge rectifier utilizing the 1N4007 rectifier diode. Prior to simulating your design, confirm that the selected diode is sufficient for our application by considering the peak reverse current and the average rectified forward current (see device datasheet). Filter Capacitor We will be evaluating filter capacitors of 10uF, 50uF and 100uF in value. For each, capacitor filter value Calculate the expected ripple voltage Simulate each circuit variation and compare your results
