Water flows with a mean velocity of 10 cm/s through a copper tube of inner diameter D = 0.5 cm
and total length L = 4 m. The tube wall is isothermal with a temperature of 30°C. The inlet
temperature of the tube is 20°C. The physical properties of water can be evaluated at 25 °C.
(a) Verify that the flow is hydrodynamically fully developed over most of the tube
(b) Verify also that the flow is thermally fully developed along most of the tube.
(c) Calculate the mean outlet temperature of the water stream, and the total heat transfer rate to
the stream from the tube wall.
