We derived velocity profile for laminar flow in a vertical pipe, where both applied pressure and gravity were motive forces. Consider the same problem in a horizontal pipe. Velocity as a function of radius would be the same expression (Eq 2.3-18) with total pressure P set to simply the applied pressure, p. Use that expression for determining the shear stress at the wall and use that expression to derive the expression friction factor f-16/Re. Re is Reynolds number. Suggestion: calculate shear stress multiplied by area of action is equated to pressure drop multiplied by the pipe cross sectional area; then, manipulate it to the required form
